PH regulator and antioxidant. As an electrolyte, L-malic acid can be incorporated into electrolyte solutions without affecting glucose metabolism in patients requiring fluid replacement therapy. It does not elevate blood sugar levels and does not cause insulin resistance similar to carbohydrates.
